nos / noz
NOS / NOZ was an experiment with layering. Archival family black and white images were combined with color images printed on transparencies. The title is a play on words, a nod to my playful Portuguese family featured in the image on the left and the bowl of hazelnuts that was the centerpiece of my Portuguese-American kitchen table growing up. "Nos" and "noz" are pronounced the same in Portuguese but the prior means "us" and latter means "nuts."
